Taking a Hollywood Tour During the LA Marathon – Do Tours Run During the Marathon?

The Los Angeles Marathon is around the corner, and this year we here at Surf City Tours are especially excited because Adam, the owner of the company and our beloved boss, will be running in the marathon.

We spoke with Gary K., a veteran tour guide and peddler of the truth: “Oh yeah, Adam is a runner. I mean he really runs.” When asked what he’ll be doing on marathon Sunday, he cleared the air for potential tour-goers: “I’ll be on tour just like any other day. It’s crazy in the morning but by the time I go to Hollywood it’s all cleared up.”

The biggest misconception about the marathon is that because it goes right through Hollywood it would ruin any tour experience. Fortunately the marathon begins at 6:30AM on Sunday March 8th in Downtown and heads straight into Hollywood, so by the time we are onto that part of the tour the road blocks have already been cleared and we are able to continue as normal.

One thing to keep in mind is that because the marathon does end at the Pier, very close to our office, plan to arrive extra early to park your car as the lots do sometimes fill up and you must go to the next one.

Both the 5.5 hour Perfect Los Angeles tour and our 2-hour Malibu tour will be operating as normal, and our 2-hour Hollywood tours from Hollywood will be delayed until 12PM.

This is a common question we receive, so I just wanted to jump on here really quick and assure everyone that you can indeed do a tour with us on the day of the marathon (March 8th). We hope to see you soon, and good luck to all LA Marathon participants!!! You can follow along with Adam and the Surf City Tours Marathon team via our Instagram & Facebook stories.

Don’t forget that the Marathon ends in Santa Monica at the Pier, just down the street from our office! Come party with us and all of the participants in Santa Monica after the marathon!! Please arrive extra early for parking on the day of the marathon.
